How to Clear Cache and Cookies

Clearing cache and cookies in your browser is essential for keeping your online experience smooth and error-free. If you use Secrets Vault, regularly clearing cache and cookies ensures that the platform functions correctly, loads the latest security updates, and prevents potential authentication issues.

Below are the steps to clear cache and cookies in the most popular web browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari.

Google Chrome #

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Go to Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
  4. Choose a Time range:
    • Select All time to remove everything.
  5. Check the boxes for:
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files
  6. Click Clear data.

Shortcut: #

Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (Mac).

Mozilla Firefox #

  1. Click the three-line menu in the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Navigate to Privacy & Security.
  4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data.
  5. Click Clear Data.
  6. Select:
    • Cookies and Site Data
    • Cached Web Content
  7. Click Clear.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (Mac).

Microsoft Edge #

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Privacy, search, and services.
  4. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  5. Set Time range to All time.
  6. Check:
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files
  7. Click Clear now.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.

Apple Safari #

  1. Open Safari and click Safari in the top menu.
  2. Select Settings (or Preferences in older versions).
  3. Navigate to the Privacy tab.
  4. Click Manage Website Data.
  5. Click Remove All and confirm.

Alternative Method: #

  • Go to Develop in the top menu.
  • Select Empty Caches.

Note: If the Develop menu isn’t visible, enable it in Safari > Settings > Advanced.
